If you are going for a simple look you can have much more fun with the fabrics. Often people try to over coordinate a bedroom. If you have a piece of furniture as spectacular as a king size canopy bed, then you can pretty much do what you like. One thing that does seem to work wonderfully is to have the room decorated very simply and the fabric from the top of the bed to be white or off white, but very light, then to fill the bed with colour from the bedding. Have rich colourful duvet covers and plenty of cushions to finish off the effect.

Whatever you choose you can be sure that you will never regret investing in a king size canopy bed. Do however; remember to allocate enough money from your budget to get a good quality mattress. There would be nothing worse than sleeping in the most wonderful bed design and having a bad night’s sleep because you skimped on the mattress.

The loft bed frame is a great way to maximise the space in your kid’s room. Unlike the traditional bunk bed the loft bed is a way of creating two uses for one space.

Depending on how stretched you are for space will decide how you use the space under the bed. Since the market is so flooded with different designs we have detailed below the advantages and disadvantages of the most popular of these.

1. Loft bed with work station. This is a very practical solution for kids who have started school and are have homework. You can either have a small desk and a futon style chair which will convert to an extra bed, or you can have a larger desk which fills the whole area. If you child is likely to have a computer on their desk the larger desk is probably the best choice.

2. Loft bed with storage. These are basically a single bed on top of a huge chest of drawers. Although it is not as wow as the other designs they are great for small rooms.

3. Loft bed with play area. These are great fun for smaller kids. They can have tents and dens underneath the loft bed. The biggest problem with this style is that it will only be a few years until your child will have out grown this style.

If you are looking to buy on bed and make it last until your kids leave home then you are defiantly best off with the loft bed frame and work station combination.

If you feel that this is too grown up for your younger child then you can always change the image of your loft bed with bright colourful kiddie bedding and put a toy box under the desk and colourings and picture books on the desk. It is much easier to make something more suitable for a younger child than to try and get a teenager to live with a toddlers design!

It is always a good idea to include your child in your choice of furniture as they are more likely to appreciate it if they think that it is their choice. So take them with you to a few shops and see what appeals to them before you buy their loft bed frame.
